A Joyful Summerland to You!
4. July 2009 by admin.
Psychic Readings by Kathleen
“Summerland” is a nickname for the Spirit World, not surprisingly we northerners have no trouble jiving with that notion. Following the first Lunar cycle after the Summer Solstice puts us in the time of the Hermit in the Tarot. The Hermit in the Tarot is esoterically pointing to the Egyptian God “Ra” whose secret name was The Sun.
The Sun reaches its peak at the Summer Solstice and like an hourglass whereby the top chamber houses the Sun, the Sun’s rays will empty into the bottom chamber (darkness) until it reaches the Winter Solstice which is when it has emptied. This is the birth, life and death of the Sun in a Solar year.
The Hermit in a reading signifies having reached a peak, possibly so much so it feels lonely at the top. Adhering to one’s own path despite criticism, objection or lack of understanding on the part of significant others. Spiritual attainment is always preceded by a period of the Hermit because all Heroines and Heroes must leave the safety and contempt of their community to find their way home to their soul’s purpose. Whether this manifests in an actual physical move is irrelevant. The leavetaking can take place right in their company. Early societies built this natural maturing attainment into their rituals and rites of passage.
The summer is hallmarked by a need and the advantage to do your own work, walking down your own path, seeking wisdom rather than accolades, knowledge rather than information, and yes having the luxury of alone time to contemplate and reflect as you take careful steps forward.
My favourite Hermit card is in the Tarot of the Crone deck which is in its self-published second edition. It depicts a middle aged woman bundled up in a coat and kerchief, carrying two paper handled bags. She walks alone in a concreted area with a look on her face of tiredness and mild anxiety. That’s what it feels like to be the Hermit. You carry on your own way, pushing through with stoicism and hope on your sleeve. She is a symbol of our time.
The most powerful Full Moon of the year hails us next Tuesday evening. The moon fully waxes in it’s home which is Cancer, signifying that many things previously hidden are revealed. It will push many budding Hermits to walk their own paths with resolution in their hearts as more of secret self comes to light.
Over the coming week feel the Moon Goddess pull you to your depths of feeling and intuition, dreams and creative fire. Have a wonderful July Moon this year…signal it as one you will remember for many years to come.

Trish Stevenson invited me back to her show Real Women Live! on June 23rd due to such an excited interest in my work on behalf of viewers. It was a great show and I want to thank those of you who called in with great questions and kindred spirit support.
Quote:
“The Hermit is a bag lady rejected by and rejecting comfortable society. She stands on the street of a faceless city, her own face exposed and eloquent. Her dress is a blue that recalls the depths of ocean and sky, and the boundlessness that lies beyond their shallow edges. She carries her bags in both hands, because she’s learned that balance gives her endurance. She is alone, but her isolation is the result, not the goal, of her journey. Where she goes, others cannot follow. She seeks the mystery at the core of life, at the core of herself. She looks for the magic that exists even in teh most articial environment. She seeks answers to questions that have not yet been born.
The Hermit says look to yourself for the answers, look into the worlds inside you, and the uncharted realms within, behind and beyond the ordinary. There are secrets only you are meant to discover, and truths only you can divine.”
